  32. Using V34 have achieved several 28k8 connects
  33. from London to many parts of the US.  Your mileage may vary...

  39. Get an RJ11<->TAE-F and an RJ11<->TAE-N adapter cable in a German
  40. store.  (TAE-F jacks are used for phones, TAE-N jacks for "non-phones".
  41. A modem is a "non-phone" and should operate from a N-type jack, but some
  42. places might only have F-type jacks available.)

  44. If tone dialing doesn't work, use pulse dialing. (10ppm, both US and
  45. UK make/break ratio should work.)  BUSY detection will not work if
  46. you're calling from a line served by an electro-mechanical switch.

  59. an outside line.  ATDP9,DWT<number> where w is waits for dial tone, and
